A Big Night For Little Critters
Are you excited for the start of Maine's BIG NIGHT? On rainy spring nights between March and May when temperatures rise above 45 degrees, legions of frogs and salamanders begin migrating from their winter burrows to nearby wetlands. It's a stunning time to go out with a headlamp and observe a phenomenal natural phenomenon! If you live on a road with nearby wetlands - especially along Bartlett Road, Braveboat Harbor Road, Cutts and Gerrish Islands - go slowly or better yet, avoid driving. Every year, untold numbers of Maine's frogs and salamanders are run over by cars. It's easy to help and appreciate Kittery's amphibious critters! You can learn more at https://mainebignight.org/
